Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 400 series delivers plenty of performance, but it comes at the price of heat and power consumption. Even if it is possible to use air cooling it can’t measure up to the power of water. Inno3D has officially launched the i-ChiLL Black Series GTX 470 sporting a full cover water block for keeping the card cool and silent.
The water block cover GPU, voltage regulators I/O chip, memory circuits and other important components. The block ships with 1/4″ nipples and is compatible with 4-way SLI configurations. Inno3D says that it lowers temperatures with 40°C compared to the reference cooler.
The clock frequencies are the same as the reference design, but with considerably lower temperatures the overclocking headroom should improve substantially. The question is how much money they are asking for the block.
