Power Tools. Just in Time for Valentines Day. XFX Releases the Radeon HD 4870 X2 Graphics Card
Ontario, Calif., February 3, 2009 Love is power, if youre a gamer, that is. Which is why if youor the object of your affectionis into speed, power, or better yet, the most amazing combination of both, the new XFX Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card is truly cupids arrow.
Offering 2.4 teraFLOPS of graphics horsepower, 1600 stream processors and 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, the XFX Radeon HD 4870 X2 is impossibly fast and exceptionally powerful.
Specifically, dual TeraScale graphics engines work in tandom to deliver blazing frame rates for the gaming experience gamers have previously only envisioned. Add 1600 stream processors and 230 GB/sec of memory bandwidth of brute power, the XFX Radeon HD 4870 X2 can tackle the most intense 3D gamesincluding those experience-killers that feature artificial intelligence, physics operations and tessellation.
Also included are unparalleled anti-aliasing (AA) and anisotropic filtering for striking graphics and reach-out-and-touch-them realism. What does that really give you? The ability to max out the settings of your next-generation games. And, ATI CrossFireX technology with quad GPU support in dual mode offers superior scalability.
Supporting DirectX 10.1, and backwards compatible for DirectX 10, users also get 32-bit floating point texture filtering, 8x anti-aliasing, and shader model 4.1.
And, while this card can take on the brutal gaming environment, its also thoughtful, conserving energy at idle or when demand is low. A second-generation 55nm chip uses the industrys most energy efficient manufacturing process, and also delivers the best performance per wattup to two times the performance per watt of previous generation chips.
Thanks to Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2), which frees up the CPU for the most processing-intensive content, and enhanced DVD upscaling, home theater aficionados can take full advantage of Blu-ray functionality with dual-stream, picture in picture capabilities. Accelerated Video Transcoding (AVT) enables users to convert videos to H.264 and MPEG-2 formats up to 19x faster than when using just a CPU. Full 1080p files can be converted to H.264 and MPEG.2 formats up to 1.8x faster than real time.
Advanced connectivity ensures that users can enjoy the latest audio technologies using HDMI with 7.1 digital surround sound support. And, HDMI with xvYCC support ensures a wider range of color when connected to a capable HDTV.
Its really too bad for Wile E. Coyote. Given the game-player he was, the new XFX Radeon HD 4870 X2 would have been massively more successful than his usual go-to tool, TNT. To learn more about XFX or the XFX Radeon HD 4870 X2 Graphics Card, please visit www.xfxforce.com.
