ASUS Xonar DG is a low profile sound card that fits in the nearest PCI slot. The card is a budget model with a 5.1 channel sound processor, but supports HDCP and has an integrated headphone amplifier.
ASUS relies on C-Media’s CMI8786 Oxygen HD audio processor and supports 24-bit/96 kHz with analog 5.1 outputs and a digital TOSLINK output. ASUS GX 2.5 gaming engine and a Cirrus-Logic DAC with a SNR of 105 dBA offers frequency reproductions between 10 Hz and 48 kHz.
ASUS Xonar DG hasn’t just slimmed the formfactor but also the price tag. Xonar DG is expected to cost less than $50.
