MSI launched an overclocked version of GeForce GTX 460 just recently. The graphics card named Hawk has received a sibling, Hawk “Talon Attack”, that has been overclocked even more; 810 MHz GPU and 3900 MHz minne, which actually makes it faster than GeForce GTX 470.
MSI claims that its Talon Attack model of GeForce GTX 460 Hawk is powerful enough to perform better than the more expensive big brother GeForce GTX 470, at least in 3DMark Vantage. The card is based on the same base as the first model Hawk, but after changing the the GDDR5 memory circuits to faster 0.4ns chips (capable of 4000 MHz) MSI decided to tweak the frequencies some more.
MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon Attack comes with clock frequencies of 810/1620/3900 MHz, which can be compared to 780/1569/3600 MHz for Hawk or for that matter 675/1350/3600 MHz with NVIDIA’s reference model.
The card sports 7+1 phases power supply and the powerful Twin Frozr II cooler will be capable of even higher frequencies in the right hands. The price was not revealed.
