Intel is selling loads of SSDs and next year it will release the third generation X25-M family. It has decided to offer some added value for its customers by working together with Acronis and develop a free clone program for Intel’s SSDs.

Intel Data Migration Software is a download of 92.86 MB and is intended to be used for copying the content from your current harddrive to your new Intel SSD. The installation requirements are 1 GHz CPU and at least 1152×864 pixel resolution, and any of Microsoft’s latest Windows operating systems (XP, Vista, 7). The software only works if an Intel SSD is connected to the computer.

“Having a simple and accessible method to clone a user’s existing drive, makes it that much easier for consumers to start experiencing the high performance of solid-state drive computing,” kommenterade Troy Winslow, produktmarknadsföringschef på Intel NAND Solutions Group

There is no Mac support and there Intel recommends other tools, e.g. Carbon Copy Cloner.

Intel Data Migration Software and user guide can be downloaded from Intel’s website.
