Component maker Sapphire has a past with motherboards and we remember its white AMD motherboards very clearly. Now that the company returns to motherboards it has altered the stakes and gone with Intel’s processor platform LGA1366, Sapphire Pure Black X58.
Sapphire has more motherboards coming, including on integrated solution based on AMD Fusion. The first is for a new platform and a new processor maker.
Sapphire Pure Black X58 is based on the Intel X58 chipset and supports Intel’s hexa-core Core i7-980X CPU. Among the functions we find SATA 6.0 Gbps support, USB 3.0 and three PCIe x16 slots.
Sapphire pushes that its Pure Black X58 modell has plenty of overclocking features, with good quality components including quality capacitors and Sapphire’s own patented Diamond Black coils. The motherboard also has on-board buttons for boot and reboot, and measuring spots for voltages and a error LED indicator.
Sapphire ships the motherboard with its overclocking software TriXX that can be used to tweak and monitor the board. Price and availability pending.
