NVIDIA is preparing several new launches and one of them is the mid-range card GeForce GTX 550 Ti. The card are slated to appear in mid-March sporting a new GF116 GPU that according to several European e-tailers boosts 192 CUDA cores and 128-bit memory bus.
PNY GeForce GTX 550 Ti is the card that has been listed around the Internet and it costs around 160€. Despite its mid-range gearing NVIDIA has chosen to place the card in the GeForce GTX 5xx series where the 192 CUDA cores are assisted by 32 texture units and GPU frequencies around 900 MHz, while the CUDA cores run at twice the speed, 1 800 MHz. Whether this is the NVIDIA reference or something custom from PNY we don’t know.
The 128-bit memory bus connects to 1GB GDDR5 RAM that operates at 4 100 MHz to keep the GF116 circuit busy. With above mentioned specifications the power consumption will be at most110 watt.
If the specifications that has been published stores around Europe are correct remains to be seen, as is the actual performance of the card. The launch is rumored be on March 15th.
