Intel has already launched a complete armada of processors based on Sandy Bridge. The availability of LGA1155 motherboards is still limited while we now see the first signs of life from the first Pentium model from Sandy Bridge. Intel Pentium G840 gets dual CPU cores and 2.8 GHz clock frequency.
Intel Pentium G840 was caught by Asian site INPAI and the screen shows dual CPU cores, but no HyperThreading. This will probably be the biggest difference from the Core i3 series. It doesn’t look like it supports AVX instructions either.
The processor has 28x multiplier, 2.8GHz clock frequency and no Turbo Boost. The integrated graphics processor comes from Intel’s older processor generation and is called Intel HD Graphics, THe GPU operates at 850 MHz but reaches 1100 MHz through its own Turbo Boost technology.
Intel Pentium G840 is expected to become one of the new entry models of the Sandy Bridge family and with a rated TDP of 65 watt the price will be around $100. The processor will get company from Intel Pentium G850, G620 and G620T, but when we don’t know.
