AMD’s 9W and 18W APUs have been popular products in the otherwise Atom-dominated netbook segment, but also slightly bigger computers. ASUS is about to launch a new netbook, with AMD’s new C-60. ASUS 1015BX is not something that stands out, but the price will.
Netbooks has branded as too expensive, for what you get, or too close to the price of regular notebooks. Lately prices whave been dropping, to the level where they should be. This time it is ASUS that will push down the price with a new model, 1015BX sporting a new APU from AMD.
ASUS 1015BX comes with AMD C-60, sporting two cores clocked at 1.0 GHz, but can go up to 1.33 GHz. The graphics is Radeon HD 6290 can sports 80 Radeon cores clocked at 276 MHz, but can rise to 400 MHz with turbo. The APU coes with 9W TDP and identical to C-50, but C-60 has a turbo mode at 33% for the CPU and 50% for the GPU.
The computer has a 10″ display with LED backlighting at 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. We also see 1 GB DDR3, 320 GB harddrive, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, 0.3 megapixel webcam, SD/MMC card reader, HDMI 1.4a and DisplayPort. The battery is a 3 cell with 2200 mAh and there is no information on the expected battery time.
The model will sport Windows 7 Starter, and cost about 2000 kr according to the early listing at German Amazon. The computer will be available shortly, in white and black.
