CES2012: OCZ Everest 2 in June

Most companies in the SSD industry are trying to outbrag the others with theoretic peak values possible in theory. OCZ hopes that its next drive will actually deliver staggering performance with next generation controller from the recently acquired Indilinx.

We have controllers delivering sufficient performance to max out the SATA 6.0 Gbps standard, but this is just in theory and while OCZ Everest may not look as impressive on paper OCZ claims its controller will deliver the promised performance on all occassions, no matter compressed data or if it has been running for a long period of time.

OCZ now promises the same thing with sequel Everest 2. Besides speeds up to 550 MB/s and 90,000 IOPS at random 4K writes. Everest 2 also supports up to 2 TB memory with one controller in a 2.5″ format, which is a big step up from the 1 TB in current Everest drives. Everest 2 is still being tested, but should appear in June.
