NVIDIA is feeling the pressure from AMD that is currently moving quite a lot of graphics cards at 28nm. NVIDIA’s new architecture Kepler is before us and now the first pictures of a circuit board with bundled GK104 GPU has been pictured, a card that targets the performance segment.

GK104 will be NVIDIA’s first GPU in the Kepler family an the goal is to break into the performance segment and compete with AMD Radeon HD 7800. Pictures are circulating Asian forums and they are said to show an engineering sample of NVIDIA’s coming performance model – a card that most likely will be called GeForce GTX 670 Ti.

The pictures show a 256-bit memory bus and dual SLI connectors and a 5 phase power supply. Dual DVI connectors, HDMI and DisplayPort are on the I/O bracket.

One of the more interesting details is the power connectors that are stacked instead of next to each other. This saves space on the circuit board – any other wins or losses are so far unclear. The picture we have above looks to have an 8-pin and a 6-pin power connector, but there are more pictures going around where we have two 6-pin connectors instead.

Earlier rumors have stated that NVIDIA has set the launch of Kepler and GK104 to March 23rd, a date that we should know more about the architecture and all the details. NVIDIA has commented on the coming graphics card on its Italian Facebook site where it calls Kepler “unbeatable”. If it can keep its word and its previous statements are correct it should be an interesting Spring for graphics card buyers.
