Ohlssonvox brings us a special type of raid array; normally you would build up an array out of a certain number of hard disks. He did not. Using an iMac (pc’s are not able to start FDD raid arrays he found out), he managed to hook up 5 USB floppy drives in a software raid array. Performance increased with a penalty of disk space.
Performance was later even more improved using 2x floppy drives. Not that anybody wants to use this kind of storage (want to carry 5 floppy stations in your backpack?), but it’s nice to know it is possible.
Apparently, you are also able to combine 5 memory stick readers into one array.
An April-fool joke or just something very rare? Decide by yourself.
