Trinity for desktops will take until later this year, but it has already started shipping from OEM companies to appear in stores next week. The component market will have to wait until the Fall for the latest architecture from AMD.

AMD launched with Trinity faster than expected and on May 15th the new architecture appeared in notebooks. We heard that it would take a while for Trinity to appear for desktops. First we heard August, that then became September and now we hear early October. This is still true for the component market, but not OEM.

Actors like ASUS, HP, Lenovo and Acer will start shipping desktops based on Trinity next week to some parts of the world. What has made AMD do this is still unclear, but it is likely that the company wants to empty out stock of Llano before Trinity launches on all fronts. We can help wondering what its motherboard partners thinks about the component market having to wait for Trinity until Fall?

The details are still few and came as a surprise to everyone we talked to on Friday. We will dig deeper and hopes to find more details to share soon.
