After a bumpy road it’s now time for ATi to launch what you perhaps could call their answer to Detonator FX. The new Catalyst update consists of the following:
RADEON™ display driver 7.88
Multimedia Center™ 8.5
HydraVision™ 3.2
Remote Wonder 1.5
Of course most people are mostly interested in the graphics card’s device driver and in this we find a lot of fancy performance increases. Foremost this goes for FSAA and Anisotropic filtering. Furthermore ATi has a long list of bugs which they have now fixed. They have for example fixed the ESC bug in Half Life/Counter Strike.
Among the big news we see now that ATi just like nVidia offers the same device driver for both users of professional graphics cards and ordinare “homeuser-cards”. Furthermore ATi has listened to the consumers who have been asking for a equivalence to nVidias Digital Vibrance through creating new control panels for colour settings.
