AMDZone got a rather interesting article about how AMD’s flagship Opteron performs in SETI@Home. The results were very surprising;
“As is noted in the results, contrary to what I might have though, the x86-64 version is actually SLOWER than the i686 version. This came as quite a surprise to me. So much that I re-ran the benchmark just to make sure, however the end result was the same. After some searching it seems that the results, while surprise, might make some bit of sense…”
