We have lately seen many manufacturers launch DDR500 modules (PC4000) but it has been rather hard to get information about the used memory chips. Today Hynix announced that they will shortly begin massproducing the first “real” DDR500 chip.
With this we assume that the memory chips are specificated for at least 4ns which results in 250MHz clock speed (DDR500). According to TheRegister this new DDR500 chip will be 10-20% more expensive than the DDR400 chips. The new memory chips will be manufactured with a 130nm technology.
