Today VIA, introduced the “World’s Fastest Gigabit Ethernet Solution”. Through a partnership with Cicada Semiconductor, the new Velocity line was invented.
This new Velocity line will consist of VT6120, VT6121, and VT6122 controllers. They will support 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds each and full/half duplex at those. Velocity has Cicada’s patented SimpliPHY technology, which basically makes the controller more tolerant to narrow band noise. It will also minimize CPU and system use.
VT6120 and VT6122 will be Gigabit Ethernet controllers for the 32-bit PCI architecture and VT6121 is targeted at the enterprise market and 64-bit PCI architecture.
