ASUS is planning to continue its entry into the SFF (Small Form Factor) market by launching a new unit called ASUS DiGiMatrix. The new SFF’s exterior is tremendously reminiscent of an ordinary multimedia unit like e.g. a VCR or digital television box; hence it’s not too hard to conjecture that DiGiMatrix will be nothing but a multimedia station for the home.
Among its qualities, the possibilities of watching TV and DVD, listening to audio CDs, MP3s or regular FM radio can be found.
The unit will also act as a digital video recorder thanks to its in-built harddrive, which further increases the range of application.
The DiGiMatrix will be controllable by an infra-red remote control for maximum user-friendliness, and with dual Ethernet controllers and support for WLAN, it will be able to act as a server in the home network.
According to Xbit-labs.com, ASUS will launch the DiGiMatrix this fall, so we’ll presumably get more information shortly.
