external-SATA kit

There are harddrives using USB2.0. There are DV cameras connecting to FireWire ports. These are all connections brought up to allow faster transfer speeds. Well, apparently, this wasn’t enough for somebody and considering there seems to be plenty of those who want external harddrives and alike, I can respect this.

Modsynergy has had a look at a product from Highpoint, called the e.SATA Kit. As the name implies, it gives you the option to connect a SATA or ATA133/100 device to your computer externally, while using transfer rates following the Serial ATA standard (with a maximum of 150 MB/s).
After a rather painless installation, the harddrive is ready to be plugged into the computer through the PCI card that is installed as usual. When testing, the performance seems to be rather impressive for such a type of product. So if you are using a lot of harddrives that you are keeping outside your computer, then why not give this program a chance? It seems to be worth it.
