PalmOne, formerly PalmSG, introduced three new PDAs this Wednesday. Two of them are a part of its business class series, Tungsten, while the third model belong to the consumer series “Zire”.
The budget model Zire 21 is a lightweighter at 108 grams (Measures: 11.2 x 7.4 x 1.5 cm) with a 126 MHz TI OMAP 311 processor and a monochrome display (160×160 resolution). It has 8 MBs of RAM of which 7.2 is user-accessible.
The budget model in the Tungsten series is called Tungsten E and has a 320×320 resolution transreflective TFT display. It weighs 131g and measures are 11.4 x 7.9 x 1.2 cm.
The top model is branded Tungsten T3 and is a real stallion of a PDA. We can be pretty sure that an Intel XScale processor running at 400 MHz and 64 MB memory (52 MB available) won’t become outdated in the near future. The display is also top-notch; with a display resolution of 320×480 that supports both landscape and portrait modes, it can be used as a widescreen display for e.g. movie watching. Despite its specifications, the Tungsten T3 measures a mere 10.8 x 7.6 x 1.6 cm and is quite light-weighted at 153 grams, in comparison to other models. It also supports irDA and is Bluetooth compliant.
All three units utilizes Palm OS 5.2.1 and are sold with different software packages.
