New processors from AMD?

0

Yesterday Intel launched their Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Extreme Edition officially and the processor is beginning to show up in stores world-wide.
This is of course a perfect opportunity for AMD to counter by launching their new models of their Athlon 64 processors and the rumours has already begun in a serious matter.

There is talk about that AMD will launch both Athlon 64 3400+ and Athlon 64 FX-53 next month. The only thing that has changed on the models are their clock frequencies where Athlon 64 3400+ would land at 2.2 GHz while Athlon 64 FX-53 goes all the way up to 2.4 GHz.
Since the Athlon 64 CPU’s integrated memory controller has showed a very effective performance scaling at the increase of the processor’s clock frequency this might be a move that takes AMD out of 2003 as the performance leader on the PC market.

Although it seems like we have to wait until next month to put all the pieces together since an official AMD representative has expressed himself in this way:

”We do not comment on rumour or speculation, and we do not talk about unannounced products”
