We have as of late not been given any clear message on when XGI’s Volari is to be launched, but recently we got a pressrelease from XGI claiming a launch of the Volari as soon as the 8th of December.
As you might know XGI is the new contestant in the graphics card market, consisting of Trident and SiS, has the goal to later this winter try to take a big bite of the market that has untill now been dominated mostly by ATi and nVidia for quite some time. (Excluding Matrox whose graphic cards is more office oriented than for the gaming rig.)
We have yet to find more than half a handfull of tests of the Volari Duo V8 Ultra, and except for the one found at Toms Hardware the previews are not that breathtaking. But from what we have seen it doesn’t look too promesing.
The drivers are miserable, the image quality and performance fail grandly to impress and FSAA and Aniso was missing in action. These where both on beta drivers and hardware, so the question is really if XGI has fixed it all untill the 8th.
Only the future can tell and we are ofcourse in que for a review sample. XGI has announced that there is few of these though, so we might have to turn to some third-party manufacturer like PowerColor, Club3D or whoever might be taking the Volari into their list.
