Budget processors at Anandtech

0

The folks at Anandtech.com has made a very interesting processor roundup. They have taken a number of cheaper processor models and tested them against each other in a budget CPU roundup.
All of the processors except one cost at the writing moment under $100 and we see several different processor models in the lineup, Intel Celeron, Pentium 4, AMD Athlon XP and AMD Duron.
AMD has with its overall low prices and Duron models been very strong in the budget market the latest years and still rules over Intel here.

“It is very obvious from these tests which line of budget processors is worth the money. When we can find a 1.6GHz Duron for just over half the price of a 2.6GHz Celeron and get better performance consistently in almost every test we ran, the choice is clear.”

What is totally clear is that Intel’s Celeron processors are today completely useless. They are expensive compared to AMD’s models which still perform better.
For the one who is after a cheaper processor for the christmas shopping this is a great article which you do not see that often.
