Tomshardware has made a review of VIA’s long awaited KT880 chip. The dualchannel-chip that should have arrived a very long time ago is finally here. The chip also supports AGP 8X, but since the socket A-platform is a very, to quote from the article, mature platform VIA has chosen not to implement any PCI-Express support.
However the new Southbridge VT8251, which will be available from midyear has some nice new features including: 2 PCI-Express ports and four SATA-ports. The four ports are suppose to make it possible to use RAID 0+1. VIA has also launcehed their new integrated Gigabit ntetwork circuit, VT6103.
