Intel Produces Cheap CPUs in Vietnam

The Inquirer tells us that Intel has released a new CPU in Vietnam, called the Shelton. At a speed of 1 GHz, and no L2 cache, this processor almost seems pointless. However, it is based on 90 nm technology, and costs could be as low as 30 dollars a chip OEM, much, much less for re-sellers. Due to the usage of 90 nm processes, you could probably overclock this chip three times its normal speed, but the absence of an L2 cache would make it a very slow endavour. It would seem that Intel is aiming at the 3rd world areas and people who need quiet computing (it can be passively cooled). This may also make it a candidate for extremely cheap laptops, if Intel would include even a tiny L2 cache. Keep your eyes on this one.
