If there’s is one component in the PC that is usually underrated and most likely will become more and more important as time pases by it’s the power supply.
A computer needs power to work, which everyone knows, although it’s easy to assume that any power supply will work just fine.
Alas the truth is that is a bit more complicated and within a near future we will be putting a higher and higher load on the PSU. Processorers with dual cores and dual graphics cards (SLI) are only a few of many technologies that puts high demands on the power supply.

Thus, to to hinder any unpleasant surprises such as unstable systems, or similar, because of crappy power supply we will here at NordicHardware take a closer look this crucial component which is discussed fairly rarely.
Our new power supply writer Patrik Svensson has taken a closer look at a power supply from Hiper and the results are published here for your enjoyment today.
Hiper Type-R 480W makes a nice impression on first sight and its design fits today’s computers well with a darkred mirror surface. The question is though if Hiper Type-R 480W will pass a round in the testlab.

At the dawn of time, there was only one power supply. It was the one you got together with the case you bought. Power supplies were not that important and the power rating were of moderate importance. Today, things got are a bit more complicated with new connectors and more specified power ratings on the power rails.
