There have been some talk about AMD’s new mobile processor, Turion 64. Obviously Turion will be AMD’s way of trying to grab market shares from Intel’s very popular Centrino-platform with the Pentium M guiding them.
Now that AMD finally has announced its new Turion 64 platform and as we earlier indicated its basically a more efficient version of AMD’s Athlon 64-processor.
“At the same time, AMD’s Athlon 64 is far more suited for mobile environments than Intel’s Pentium 4 ever was, so the need for a mobile specific architecture isn’t as great for AMD as it was for Intel. So when AMD announced their Turion 64 “Mobile Technology” we had a feeling it would be something very similar to their desktop Athlon 64s, today AMD confirmed that.”
This shouldn’t be looked upon as a disadvantage since the K8-arcitecture is a good foundation for a processor. By using the less power consuming 90nm-core they’ve managed to launch a powerful yet efficient processor based on previsously named K8-arcitecture.
