ECS is one the largest mainboardmanufacturers in Taiwan, and thus in the world, and by now we’ve gotten used to some really odd creations showing up now and then.
Everything from mainboards supporting several memory types to boards with both AGP and PCI-E.

There is no doubt their latest creation takes the prize. ECS PF88 is namely something as absurd as a mainboard supporting both Intel’s Pentium 4-processor and AMD’s Athlon 64-processor.
The mainboard uses the SiS656 chipset to support Intel’s LGA775-platform while you have to use an expansioncard to support AMD’s S939-platform. The expansion card is almost as a mainboard alone with its own chipset, SiS756, and own memory slots.

ECS’ goal is optimum expansionpossibilities, a board you can use with everything in other words, a concept we are very sceptical of. Sure there are advantages with this system, but the question is whether the potential drawbacks such as lack of performance and a high price will even things out. A unique bord without a doubt, but is it really a good product?
