Microsoft has not one but two stripped down versions of Windows XP under development. Both systems are built on the same base as Windows XP and goes by the names Eiger and Monch. Monch is the “heavier” version and will include a few security functions not available in Eiger. Microsoft’s thinks that the two operatings systems will become a more reasonable solution for companies with a restrained budget that still have to use fairly old computers and still want have the familiar Windows-environment and as operating system in “thin client/server”-environments.
