Xbox 360 will be using embedded DRAM technology for optimum performance in next generation of video games. NEC has today published a pressrelease on their cooperation with Microsoft on the making of Xbox 360. eDRAM will be used as a compliment to the regular graphic memory in Xbox 360 and is suppose to ease the graphic memory bandwidth usage. This is primarily to be able to deliver HD-resolutions (720p+) with high levels of “edge smoothening” with any detectable loss of performance. Something that requires enormous amounts of bandwidth with conventional methods.
