RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is starting get more and more useful and where if not Japan they are trying to find new uses for the technology. Among others they started to use jackets with RFID-trasmitters in prisons, which makes it possible for the guards to keep track of the prisoners via monitor. So far they haven’t started to operate the transmitters into the prisoners, but since some people seem to do it volentarily it might just be a question of time. RFID has also found its way to the airports where you now can check in with a RFID-chipped FeliCa telephone or with a RFID-card. Perhaps a more suitable area of use.
