Unfortunately it looks like there won’t be only one format for the next generation of DVD-discs. We’ve earlier reported on representatives from both parties, Blu-ray and HD DVD, was having negotiations on a joined effort to avoid the problems two rivaling formats will bring. But when Toshiba announced that it is working on a HD DVD disc supporting 45GB data, only 5GB less than Blu-ray we started to wonder of course. At the same time Sony launches its gaming console Playstation 3 with official support for Blu-ray and all of this is of course a clear indication that they will not join up after all. Even if negotitations will continue things are looking dim.
