Blu-ray and HD DVD goes to war

Blu-ray and HD DVD are the two hottest candidates for the next optical format and replace today’s DVD-format sometime the following years. Both formats are based on the more efficient blue laser-technology, but there are still some big differences. A couple of weeks ago it seemed the two parties were going for one single format. Alas this is a thing of the past now that Sony’s Ken Kutaragi announces that the negotiations have broken down and no agreement have been reached. Thus we can expect another formatwar, and we can only hope that the winner will be us, the consumers.
