ThermalTake Golden Orb probably rings a bell with a few of the “old school” enthusiasts. It was one of the coolest, not by degree but by look, you could own at the end of the last century. It was the rather unique design, it was back then at least, that made it so popular. A few years have passed and the Golden Orb has been a thing of the past. But now ThermalTake has, believe it or not, launched a sequel to the golden cooler. It has been given a very fitting name to, Golden Orb II. We usually don’t report on these kind of reviews with only a single cooler but the nostalgia became overwhelming now that Legion Hardware has launched its review. Golden Orb was despite its popularity far from the best cooler available, but back then cooling ability wasn’t as important as it is today. The problem is though that Golden Orb II isn’t a very good cooler either. Weighing 750g, in copper, you might expect a cooling a bit better than Golden Orb II can offer and this is probably the last we will ever see of the golden orb as we know it.
