Dell has announced that it has servers available supporting the dual-core technology for the x86-platform. Considering Intel hasn’t launched its server-processors Xeon with dual cores this may sound a bit odd, but as we have earlier mentioned Intel has chosen to launch a serverplatform of its desktopprocessor Pentium D. It is precisely that which Dell offers in its servers and for those hoping an AMD-based Dell system will have to wait some more. PowerEdge 850 will offer, though its dual core setup, up to 79% better performance in some cases, according to Dell at least.
