Apple wants to procuce its own iPod components

Apple will later this year launch generation five of its harddrive-based mp3-player iPod and the focus seems to be the development of its new and own components for tis series. All get better control of production and costs, which is hard when you have to license many components. One of the components that will be switched for Apple’s own is the iPod’s navigation, the wheel. At the same time rumours state that Apple is developing an iPod with replaceable battery, which is hardly a new and innovative feature but something Apple has lacked until now. At the same time it is trying to improve the use of the battery, but we don’t know exactly what Apple is doing.
