nVidia has today launched its latest addition to the 7800-series and even if its a cheaper alternative you shouldn’t look away. First of all 7800 GT is not cheap, only cheaoer than 7800 GTX, but performs much better than most other cards at the same price. The earlier rumours about 7800 GT has turned out to be rather precise. nVidia has turned off 4 pixel pipelines and lowered the frequncies of both memory and GPU. The pricetag at $449 is considerably lower than the one of 7800 GTX, which was launched at $599.

Most tests show that the 4 pipelines actually doesn’t change all that much which makes 7800 GT look even more impressive. Even if $449 isn’t cheap the price will drop soon and since 7800 GT in many cases performs equally compared to its bigger brother it looks like nVidia has launched another really hot product. The question is when or what ATi is going to get in and play becausde right now it’s only nVidia at the top.
