BenQ is one the largest manufacturers of optical units on the market and it has now published information on its plans to support the next generation of optical format, or at least one of them. BenQ will namely offer Blu-ray compatible DVD-ROM-players during the first or second quarter of 2006. It has chosen to support Blu-ray to begin with and will wait and see if HD DVD will be worth going for. Even if Sony is about to launch Blu-ray players for PCs during the first quarter of 2006 Sanyo has plans for HD DVD instead with its LSI-circuit we reported on earlier.
