Maxtor launches multimedia hub

Maxtor is one of the biggest harddrive manufacturers for PCs and within short it will launch a new series of harddrives quite similar to a multimedia hub. It works without any influence from a computer, the harddrive is simply connected to the network and then acts as a mediaserver for the computers/clients. Maxtor Shared Storage Plus uses software from Mediabolic and will among others make it possible to distribute playlists up to 10 rooms. Or four persons will be able to watch four different movies at once through the multimedia hub. Those who already have Maxtor’s “auto-backup” harddrives will also be able to take advantage of the mediaserver features through a firmware-update. But for those who are looking to puchase a new external storage this one hits the stores in short.
