Miniharddrives is an important part of the mobile home electronics market and Hitachi GST (Global Storage Technologies) has now released two new models for this market. The two new models is called 3K8 (Mikey) and Travelstar C4K60 Slim. The first is the smaller and is only 1″, which makes it very suitable media players and other handheld devices. Microdrive 3K8 has a maximum capacity at 8GB and uses the CE-ATA interface and a bandwidth at 33MB/s. An interesting question is how mini-HDDs will stand up to flashbased products, especially considering Apple’s plans for iPod mini. :: Read on about Hitachi’s two mini-harddrives at X-bit Labs
