The X1800-series will, as you know by now, be running at very high frequencies and whether ATi has managed to solve the cooling of the top model X1800XT with a single slot cooler is highly doubtful, the images we’ve seen so far indicates a dual slot cooler. Since nVidia uses a more convenient single slot cooler for both 7800GT and 7800GTX it seems quite important that at least the slower cards in the X1800-series would suffice with a smaller cooler. This seems to be the case as HKEPC has published pictures of ATi Radeon X1800 XL equipped with a single slot-cooler in solid copper. The cooler is looking quite effective and seems to be enough to cool X1800 XL, and the question is if a similar design can be used with X1800 XT.
