ATI quickly realised that
they had to reconsider their pricing of their new X1000-family, especially the
high-end models. Oddly, rumours have circulated telling ATI has put a higher tag
on the X1800XT but its baby brother, X1800XL, who fights against the much
cheaper GeForce 7800GT seems to have received a noticable lowering in price. At
least in Germany where you can find a Radeon X1800XL for €399, €50 cheaper than
the recommended €449-pricetag. The battle between ATI and NVIDIA is undoubtedly
at full strenght and the question is only how far they will push it to win the
christmas-shopper’s good grace.
