The laser-technology used in more and more optical mice on the market is still far from being perfect. The technology works best on even surfaces and among others Logitech-owners has had some problems with other surfaces whilst using the manufacturer’s laser-mice. Razer has had similar problems with their laser-mice but they have been able to solve much of the problems with a firmware-update. According to Razer they are considering taking this a step further by releasing laser-mice optimized for specific surfaces. It has only been discussions within the company itself, but it sounds a bit interesting to say the least. For those who are chasing the optimum feel it could be the right way to go.
