ATI still hasn’t shipped its Crossfire systems for the X1000-family but it seems it is getting close. At Anandtech they’ve tested ATI’s coming chipset, RD580, which supports Dual x16 Crossfire just as NVIDIA’s latest SLI chipst. ATI’s new chipset seems to be a very potent circuit and especially the overclocking potential seems very impressive. At the same time Anantech has had the chance of testing ATI’s flagship, Radeon X1800 XT, in a Crossfire configuration and the results are very promising. As this system hasn’t been launched yet they couldn’t post any specific numbers, but with all tests they did X1800 XT Crossfire performed better than 7800 GTX SLI. At the same time GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB is an all too might opponent for X1800 XT, but ATI has announced a PE version for its flagship which is suppose to bring down NVIDIA’s equivalent. We look forward to seing som official tests of Radeon X1800 XT Crossfire and hope to get a hold of one of these ourselves. Anywho, there is a lot of interesting information about ATI’s future Crossfire-system at Anandtech.
