Small preview imageWe knew that Intel was thinking of launching its 65nm Pentium 4-processor earlier, but we didn’t think it would be the first day of the year. But now information posted by The Inquirer states that Intel will launch its first Presler processor on January 1st, 2006. This should mean that earlier rumours about stability problems with Presler wasn’t correct or that Intel managed to fix this on this very short amount of time. The new Presler based processors will be a part the new Pentium 9xx series and uses dual processor coes where the top model, Presler 950 will be working at 3.4GHz and will be equipped with 2 x 2MB L2 cache. However still using Socket 775 and 800MHz processor bus.

Intel Pentium 955 Extreme Edition is expected to arrive on January 16 and will have two cores working at 3.46GHz with a processor bus at 1066MHz. At the same as Intel launches its new Presler processors it will lower the prices of today’s 6xx series.
