Intel has announced that they will further increase their production capacity by opening a new 45nm 300mm Wafer-plant in Kiryat Gat, Israel. The new plant will be called Fab 28 and will be used for manufacturing 45nm microprocessors the second half of 2008, among others. They expect to build the plant right away and the cost is estimated to 3.5 billion dollars. Intel has focussed on their Pentium M-architecture lately and the fact that it was developed originally by their israelian team may have something to do with the new plant.
