RAID in detail with nForce4 and ICH7

0

RAID is a technology which lets users to connect several harddrives in various configurations. Either to reach higher transfer rates or to increase security, some RAID setups even lets you do both. RAID has been around for long with several motherboard chipsets and now the technology has found its way to the SATA interface while integrated RAID controllers supports different RAID configurations. At Tech Report they’ve compared the RAID controller used by NVIDIA’s nForce4 chipset and the one Intel uses with its ICH7 southbridge. The article is quite massive and tests almost everything you can test with configurations up to 1.6TB with 4 drives. Some very interesting reading for those who are thinking of a RAID-array at home.
