We have for some time now known that NVIDIA and specificly ASUS has been working intensely on making Quad SLI systems functional and those of you who aren’t sure of what we’re talking about it is to make four graphic circuits work in parallel, instead of two. Gigabyte has already launched a motherboard with four PCI Express x16 slots, but ASUS has chosen another path. It is going for running two graphic cards with dual circuits instead, namely two if its Extreme GeForce 7800 GT Dual. A commercial solution isn’t ready yet, but ASUS has been working hard with Quad SLI in its test lab and now a preview has appeared. Tomshardware has published an article about Quad SLI where they have used two Extreme GeForce 7800 GT Dual to make four circuits work together. The technology isn’t ready yet and it really shows from the tests, but it is going to be interesting to see what NVIDIA and ASUS will accomplish in the future with Quad SLI. Best/worst cards scenario Quad SLI systems will be available before next year’s championship.
