Pioneer launches Blu-ray unit in January

Pioneer BDR-101A will be the name of one of the first Blu-ray units that will be launched for the PC-market. BDR-101A will, if everything goes as planned, be available in stores at the end of January. I.e. in Japanese stores, the unit is expected to reach the North American market sometime during the first quarter. Pioneer BDR-101A sports single layer writable BD-R (Blu-ray Disc) and rewritable BD-RW discs, but also single and dual layer BD-ROMs. There is also support for most other DVD-formats to secure the backwards compatibility. Blu-ray and most likely also HD DVD will soon arrive on the market and we will keep you posted when things start to unravel.
