Concept car with integrated Xbox 360

Nissan URGE Concept is the name of a new concept car from the car manufacturer Nissan and URGE really has some unique qualities. First of all the car has an Xbox 360 gaming console integrated into the system, and by that we don’t mean that it has just installed a console in the car, which is quite common today. Nissan URGE Concept is more or less one with Microsoft’s new console, they have namely connected the car’s steering wheel, gas and brake pedals to the console. All is optimized to work with Microsoft’s own gam Project Gotham Racing 3. So when the car is parked you can play PGR3 in you car with the 7″ LCD monitor hanging down from the roof.

“PGR 3” drivers view and play the game on a flip-down LCD screen, which doubles as a rear-view mirror when the car is being used for real driving. They control the action using the Nissan URGE’s race-inspired steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal. A Nissan URGE driver can, for example, maneuver through the streets of New York, park the car and fire up the Xbox 360, then virtually race through the same streets using the same steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal — blurring fantasy and reality in a way that the automotive world has never before seen.

Nissan URGE will hardly become anything but a concept car, but we have seen worse PR-tricks from a company. Whether this has given any new ideas to car modders remains to see.
